How it works
The rules fit on one screen. That's deliberate.
- 1
Enter
Submit your project and place your first bid. Minimum entry is $1. Your bid is public, and so is your position.
- 2
Climb
Higher bids move you higher on the leaderboard. #1 is simply whoever has paid the most. Ties go to whoever got there first.
- 3
Dethrone
Someone can always pay more and take your spot. One dollar more is enough. When they do, you drop — and you can pay to climb back.
Before you pay
Bids are purchases for participation and placement, and are non-refundable once completed. If another user later bids more, your bid is not refunded and your position drops. YouGotOutbid is not a lottery, a wager or an investment — no prize or payout exists.
Questions
- Do I get my money back if I'm outbid?
- No. Bids are final purchases for placement. Being outbid later does not trigger a refund — that's the whole game, and it's disclosed before every payment.
- Can I bid $100.01 to beat $100?
- No. Bids are whole dollars only. Beating $100 costs $101.
- What decides the ranking?
- Only confirmed payments. Rank is derived from bid amounts on every read — the highest current bid is #1. If two bids match, the one confirmed earlier ranks higher.
- How fast does my position update?
- As soon as Stripe confirms the payment to our webhook. Landing on the success page does not move anything by itself.
- Is this gambling?
- No. Nothing is drawn, wagered or won. You are buying a placement on a public leaderboard — an attention product with a fixed, disclosed price and no payout.
